24-Hour Egg Omelet

Ingredients

  • 6 slices white sandwich bread
  • butter or margarine
  • 1 cup longhorn cheese — grated, or cheddar
  • 6 eggs, slightly beaten
  • 2 cups milk
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon dry mustard
  • dash cayenne pepper
  • 1 pound sausage, cooked, crumbled, drained

Instructions

  1. Butter one side of bread. Place in baking dish.
  2. Sprinkle bread with cheese and sausage.
  3. Beat together eggs, milk, salt, mustard, and pepper. Pour over bread mixture. Refrigerate, covered, overnight.
  4. When ready to bake, preheat oven to 325 °F.
  5. Bake covered about one hour or until egg mixture is set. Uncover for the last 5 minutes baking time.
