Mix 1 cup sugar and chopped nutes. Stir until sugar is dissolved.
Cut (or just pull) each biscuit into quarters and place in bag with 2/3 cup sugar, cinnamon, and cloves. Shake well until all pieces are well coated. (I find I need to do this in 4 or more batches.)
Grease tube pan and layer biscuits and melted margarine mixture alternatively.
Bake for 35 to 40 minutes.
Turn upside down immediately after removal from oven. Serve warm.

When I use a bread pan, the inside dough does not cook. A bundt or tube pan works much better.
