Monkey Bread

Ingredients

  • 4 cans biscuits (10 to a can)
  • 1-1/2 sticks margarine, melted
  • 1 2/3 cups sugar
  • 1/2 cup nuts, chopped
  • 2 Tablespoons cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon clove

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350 °F.
  2. Melt margarine in small saucepan.
  3. Mix 1 cup sugar and chopped nutes. Stir until sugar is dissolved.
  4. Cut (or just pull) each biscuit into quarters and place in bag with 2/3 cup sugar, cinnamon, and cloves. Shake well until all pieces are well coated. (I find I need to do this in 4 or more batches.)
  5. Grease tube pan and layer biscuits and melted margarine mixture alternatively.
  6. Bake for 35 to 40 minutes.
  7. Turn upside down immediately after removal from oven. Serve warm.

Notes:

When I use a bread pan, the inside dough does not cook. A bundt or tube pan works much better.
